why i should have slept more today - 2002-12-21

I spilled water on my newborn son. Woops. We got him changed, changed his diaper too, and we're nursing now while the bed hopefully dries. Jas seemed too tired to change the sheet. He came out here to sleep on the sofa so he could be nearby if I need him. The shower curtain is still under the sheet on the bed, heh.

Lochlan is soo alert when he is awake. Kieran has barely acknowledged him and doesn't seem too happy with jason & i right now. We asked if he wanted to stay home tonight or go to nana's and he choose to go. He wouldn't even say bye to me. I didn't think he would be "fine" with a baby. Poor kier. I miss my boys a bunch. They were here earlier but out all day & stuff. They got new shoes, spiderman stuff for Jers party, to ride on a carousel at the mall, umm chick-fil-a chicken nuggets lol. Baby bear got a first christmas outfit and a red/white striped hooded blanket with matching bib. I wanted a hooded blanket so yay!! I am dying to go shopping now that he is here, how crazy is that. I am apparently on house arrest though, at least for a few days. If I am feeling up to it Monday i'll go to mils friends house to see santa. If not she will just take jer & kier.

I know i'm just rambling. it is 3 am, i want to sleep. as soon as lochlan is finished nursing and is ready to sleep again i will. He is a pretty good nurser, so long as he is awake for it and isn't wanting to sleep. Does anyone know how soon after birth baby should have his first poop?? He has not yet, thats why I'm asking. Still 2.5 hours till he is 24 hours old. I found out yesterday that there was meconium in the water when Kier was born. I had no idea, I guess I didn't hear Molly say it or I blocked it out. I don't remember panicking about it so everyone else must have stayed calm. Jason & mom remember. Wierd. K i'm gonna go now.

I slept some, i'm jut so excited. I couldn't stand having this little guy next to me instead of in my arms any longer. He is so precious. The boys are off with their nana, and Jas is asleep. I will sleep tonight (yeah thats what I think). Anyway here is my baby

Jason was amazing. He just was such good support. Andrea too. And mom. And my midwives. And my brothers girlfriend even was around and helped out with things. It was just soooo great. Someone yell at me to get some sleep!!!

my baby bear - 2002-12-20

Ok I am on a "new baby" high so I'm not sleeping. I was falling asleep a couple of hours ago but then everyone cleared out of here (there were people around alll night of course). So let me give you those details! His name is Lochlan William he waas 6 lbs 7 oz 19.5 inches long. He is adorable. I don't feel like uploading his picture right now but he is just beautiful. He latched on great and has a good strong suck. Jeric seemed semi intereted in him, he held him before school. Kieran has not woken up yet. My mother in law will be coming in a half hour or so, to help withthe boys because jason & i were up all night and are exhausted. birth story someday soon wehn i want to think about it again, lol. For now thats enough right? ;)

molly just checked, aishy is at 4 1/2 cam, 98% effaced, and at +1 1/2.

she walked some with jason and got the contractions really going. she is trying to rest right now, but molly predicts she will go from here to pushing rather quickly.

we made it to the twentieth, yay. i think im starting transition. in fact i should go before i get another contraction.

Just contracting. nothings going on much. molly isn't checking right now unless i ask soooo you'll have to wait. and i'm still able to sit here fine beetween contractions. lol. my brothers here though!!!!!

short update - 8:28 p.m. - 2002-12-19

My midwife is heading over with two others. I am nausious. Nothing much is happening cept contractions every few (3-4) minutes. fun. I just realized I should clear out my camera pictures so I can show you my baby bear soon, and recharge the battery. And maybe put in a new tape, hmmm. Oh yeah Andrea took Kier out for a drive, my sister is putting Jer to bed, and my house is so clean and I didn't have to do any of it. I should have babies more often.

Labor - 7:15 p.m - 2002-12-19

This afternoons update, for starters...

The contractions are getting more intense. I called Molly & had Amy (apprentice) come out & check me. Andrea came over and stayed with the boys while we were in the bedroom. She checked all the usual stuff & theres a trace of protien in my urine. His heartrate was 130-something. And I had her do an internal because with all the pressure I just know somethings going on down there and I wanted to know what. I am 3.5-4 centimeters dialated (where i was when i had molly come to with kieran, but jason was worried about her not making it in time & made me call her when he thought it was a good time. lol). And his head is at +1 station. Oh and about 50% effaced too. Sooo tonight or early in the morning just may be when he will come. She said because of my history she didn't think labor would just stall here like it does for some women. We'll see I guess.

I am having to sit and bounce on the ball when I have a contraction. And breath through them. So yeah they aren't all easy going like they were, those ones were way nice compared to these and they will just get more intense. I am soo excited though. I will probably start a labor page if things really pick up tonight, and move this entry to it. And I will have it all fixed up so Andrea can update or whatever. This is around the time I have had ALL my babies, it's just how long they cook for I guess. :)
